March Mom of the Month

Ali Schmidt is our Mom of the Month. Ali is mom to Greyson, one of the happiest babies I know. Ali is also expecting her second baby boy in June.

Ali has been attending Stroller Strides for just about a year. She joined when Greyson was just 6 weeks old and has been coming since. I still remember the first day she came to class. She has been working out throughout her pregnancy and she looks amazing. Ali and her husband are both members of the Coast Guard, Ali is a reservist, Brian is active.

Last month while attending class at the Mall, a man began having what was most likely a seizure. After falling down and hitting his head, Ali, being a certified EMT, sprang into action, helping the man and staying with him until EMS arrived. She was awesome!

Science Museum

We have been having a blast enjoying all the gorgeous springtime weather Corpus has to offer this time of year. The weather is prefect and the breeze is just enough to cool you off if the weather gets too hot. This is my favorite time of year for Stroller Strides, that time of year where you can sit around after class and let the kids play for hours because it’s just so wonderful to be outside. Before we know it the weather will be too hot to handle and we’ll be dripping sweat from our knee caps. I hope you all enjoy this time of year as much as I do.

I took some pictures of the baby boys in our group, mostly because they were all calm and sitting nicely in their strollers. The older kids were running a muck and learning how to roll down hills.

Mom’s Night Out-February

We had a blast at our Mom’s Night Out in February. Susanne Laws set up a shopping night at The Market and it was a really nice event. We had fun trying on clothes and buying jewelry.

March for Babies!

We received an award from March of Dimes today for being a $4,000 + in fundraising dollars. We raised $4,420.00 which is so awesome. Second place out of all the Stroller Strides franchises in America. We are hoping to raise more money this year with our goal being $5200, and come in first for SS across the country. I am so proud of the money we raised for such a great cause.

Organ Donor Dash

A group of us participated in the Organ Donor Dash this weekend and I have to say how proud I am of all ours Moms.

Jenn pushed the double, Tanya, Claudia and I pushed the single, and Laura and Sarah ran solo (lucky). I am so proud of how well everyone did. I have to brag on Claudia who said she was not a runner and only signed up to do the walk. I was running the back half of the race and who do I see running her heart out???Claudia...and who ran the ENTIRE 5K when she said she was going to walk the 2K?? Claudia!!! I was so impressed with her drive and I have know told her there is no excuse as to why she can not run Beach to Bay with us (she told me the day before that she didn't think she could). I am so proud of all my Moms who came out to race for a great cause. Good job ladies!!! Job well done

January Mom of the Month

Our January Mom of the Month is:

 Kristen Gonzalez

Kristen Gonzalez has been a member of Stroller Strides since November 2009. She is an outstanding Mom, always has a smile on her face and is a ton of fun to be around. On top of being a full time Mom, she works weekends as a NICU nurse. Kristen has made awesome strides in fitness since starting SS. She was on one of our Beach to Bay teams (showing up for almost all our practice runs), and has toned all her muscles working out as hard as she does in class everyday. Her running has improved greatly and I can't wait to see her run this year's Beach to Bay as well. Kristen has an awesome personality and is always willing to hang to the back and welcome that new Mom on her first day of class. Alaina is such a great little kiddo, she's used to coming to class everyday and loves playing when class is all done. Alaina has crazy dance moves and will break it down with me after class on a regular basis.

  Congrats to Kristen for being this month's Mom of the Month. I am so glad you're a member of Stroller Strides of Corpus Christi!

December Mom of the Month!

Meet Sylvia Salyer our December Mom of the Month!

Sylvia is a new member, joining the ranks of Stroller Strides on October 28th! Since that time she has has hardly missed a class. This might not seem like a big deal to some but I tend to think this is pretty impressive. In the month of November Sylvia attended 18 out of 21 classes that were offered. She's a full time stay at home Mom, to three kiddos, Bianca, Bradley and Bill (pictured) and does it all solo, as her husband is off serving the Country in Cuba. I'd say being a single parent and coming to Stroller Strides that consistently has earned Sylvia the role of December Mom of the Month. Sylvia is doing a GREAT job at working out everyday and has really been giving it her "A" game since she has started.
